Betfair - £4700 Betdaq + £6600

That's right I've been to the dark place and back again!!!

I had a stupid stupid big bet on a horse I was given and was hoping to trade out some but it just kept drifting and I didn't get out. Lost £1400 on the first race. Then I had an even bigger bet on a horse that was even more strongly fancied. It drifted and drifted and drifted and lost! So I did nearly £5k in on my betfair and moved over to betdaq. I backed three godolphin horses and upped my stake each time. ALL three won and ALL three drifted. So I was £1600 up on the day but my betfair P and L shows a different story. Not bothered though I'll forget the betdaq win for my stats for the blog and call it a nice £6.6k bonus :-)

So I have a target to make the £4.7k back by the end of the month. Only 2 days ha ha unlikely. Only got £396 in my betfair account and can't deposit anthing until tomorrow because of my self impossed limits so I'll see how far I can get that in the next two days. It would be nice to get back to my £2k betfair bank without having to deposit. Either way my October figures will be good without the betdaq win and I have another £1600 to treat myself with!!!!

BIG let off :-) :-) :-)

Control losses and profits

Been playing the markets a bit today to lock in profit and hold losses but first last nights value seeking

sort out a but of value last night on the televised dogs and football and made £48.16

This afternoon traded the markets a bit when I new the price would shorten on fancies pre-race or after the off I placed slightly bigger bets and traded out quite quickly, a couple of winners meant a decent profit and the for the 4 losers I was slightly green so all good. Made £249.03 this afternoon.

On to this evening had a few bets on US racing and end slightly up but boost this after backing a tip at Kempton that won making a healthy profit of £649.71

all in all I've made nearly a grand over the past two days which is almost a months target.

A decent enough day for little effort

Wasn't planning on doing much today but was given a bit of info which I didn't go too big and it worked out well netting a nice profit. After last night it was a relaxing bit of profit. May have a search around for any value tonight but may just not play at all. I just want to make use of the time that I have while the wife is working because after this week I'll have less time for punting and as it's a new month soon I'm not sure I'll be able to hit targets. Speaking of targets I'm gonna have a rethink of my targets
and adapt them to the different punting styles I adopt.
Just think how I can maximise profits and more
importantly minimise losses and stop the dreaded tilt!

Horse Racing: £320.27 Total P&L: £320.27

Learning Lessons - RONALDO I LOVE YOU!

Learnt an important lesson on staking last night. I played the US horses and it was one of those nights when I knew it just wasn't my night. Despite reducing my stakes to what I had been playing in recent weeks whilst trying to recover losses, it wasn't long before I 'd lost quite heavily and was into chasing territory! Some of my concerns in the early posts of this blog questioned my form on the US racing but over the past couple of weeks my good form has returned and you could say I have been ON FIRE! Fortunately my good form hasn't deserted me, it was just my good fortune. The amount of close 2nds and close 3rds was unbelievable.

Anyway, early doors my staking got me into trouble (LESSON 1) fortunately my banker bet of the evening which was an amazing 7/4 when I expected it to be odds on, got me out of trouble. I should have just quit then, I was a few quid down but up on the day and if I had a proper look at the cards ahead (particularly later on) I would have done (LESSON 2). But no I continued aiming to make a profit and my eratic staking continued (LESSON 3) and got me into an evening bigger mess. I wasn't blindly chasing, I was waiting for what I thought were good opportunities but my luck was out. I layed a fav and back a 2nd fav, the swing was huge and mine lost in a photo when it looked the winner all the way up the straight but that happens in racing and it will go the other way one day. By this point there was very little racing left and it was getting late. I wasn't posting my selections on the forum. I placed a massive bet and the horse absolutely hacke up by about 12 lengths. I won't forget the horses name in a hurry, Ronaldo, I will never show hatred for the ex -man utd now with real madrid footballer again! For the first time that night I was in front.

It was reckless and I shouldn't have been there in the first place and in future I wouldn't have been so lucky (LESSON4) but boy was I happy.

The profit for a turbulent day was £588.07

How do you stop yourself?

Right last post I suggested I may need to analyse my strategy as far as the aussie racing was concerned. Well I put today down to part poor aussie form but mainly down to big bet chasing.

Within the space of less than 2 hours I managed to rack up a £2.5k loss on aussie racing and it may have been more but my funds were limited so 'I had to' be careful. Basically I was reckless yet again.

By the end of the day I managed to turn things around with some decent form on the UK racing and turn out a profit of around £200 for the day.

Food for thought and so much for having a day off!

I need to get some discipline. May be if I say it enough then I'll start to act on it!!

Two Months down the line and some might say I give up Ozzie

Not been any activity since my last post but I realised that it's exactly two months since I started recording my progress so I thought I'd post some screen shots while I have time!

What you will see is my UK wallet is showing a very healthy profit and my AUS wallet is showing a huge loss. I put this down to chasing and some heavy chase bets lost on the aussie stuff but I will be keeping an eye on my aussie horse and greyhound profits over the next couple of weeks to see if there is a profit.

The sum total of all this is that my profit for the first two months stands at £14,363.49

In a way though this is pretty meaningless while I still am struggling with my chasing issues!

It happend AGAIN !!! Ground Hog Day

Ok since the last post I had a bad run started chasing and lost plenty in one day!!!!

So it's like ground hog day!

However, I was probably further down this time and my lowest point and now I've got myself into a decent increase in profit since my last post.

I'm saying no more about this because I said it all last time!!!! Except to say apart from one bank job horse that won me £2600 there was nothing spectacular about the comeback except to say it was a hard slog over several days.

I'm back now though so all is good.... for now

Figures for October to date are as follows :-

UK Wallet + Total P&L: £15,718.91

AUSSIE Wallet - Total P&L: -£3,247.09

Total Profit ++++++++ £12471.82 :-) :-) :-)

So just over £2300 made since last post which on reflection aint too bad at all :-)

Taking things easy until the end of the month.

Some great information!!!

Firstly I must point out that I started the last post on Saturday but saved it as draft cos I was took tired and only finished it yesterday.

So, where do I start had a cracker of a day yesterday. Was given a really strong tip last week and I waded in on it! I know that this breaks my rule but the info was really really strong so I went vert big win and place. I collected just over £3k on Betfair, and included it in a eachway Lucky 15 with a bookie and had one other winner and two placings. I won nearly £600 from that bet as well. I had another winner and two good session on the US racing and a small session on Oz racing.

Stats for yesterday were - £4,196.16 UK + £46.56 AUS

Also had a small session on the Oz racing this morning and won £42.45

So currently my month to date stands at - £10169.84. Which is huge!!!

Last month was £1891.67 so the total is £12061.51 since the start. But as last month proved it could all go horribly wrong if I don't keep my discipline.

I was concerned after yesterdays great day that I would get ahead of what I know is reasonably acceptable. But I kept things steady and ground out a decent profit in last nights US racing sessions. I know that if I get enough sessions in each week I would be able to hit £2k every month quite easily so I think I'll have that as my target moving forward.

Obviously this month I will easily surpass that so I'll set a target from today 13th October to make £1500 by the end of the month. Which means that I need a total of 25 sessions if I make £60 a session as a minimum. I think I will target 20 sessions at £75 a go.

Busy Weekend !

Strange sort of day on Saturday. Was given a strong fancy which won at 9/1 but I only had a small each way on it's own and had included it in multiples. Did all the the bets on by bookie account from the winnings from yesterdays dog and ended up in profit on the day. In fact from the £100 deposit on Friday I was able to bank £412.50 on Saturday.

I didn't have any sessions durig the day because I was busy putting decking down in the back yard. Then in the evening I decided to have a small session in the evening even though I was a bit tired. the secod bet won, I had backed it quite big (£65) at prices around 15's on betfair as I thought it was sure to shorten and I would trade some out. It didn't shorten even though it went off 5/1 on track and ended up storming in!

Yesterday I had two tips, went quite big on the first one which won at 4/1, I made areound £900. I'd also had a small eachway double on the two at the bookies so I just went small w/p on the 2nd and it came nowhere.

Had a small session last night and was losing quite heavily, about £2k down at one point. Landed a decent bet which got me back to only £800 down and decided to take a break for a bit. I thought about what I should so and had been given a american footbal tip to back earlier in the day from a mate at even money. I put £800 on that. Then I went back to the US racing. The first bet was a lay of the fav and the back to a 12's shot in the same race. The 12's shot won which got me back another £600. So I was actually only £200 down, so I traded out of the american football bet until I only had £200 on the bet. That won as well which netted me about £18 profit for the session.

So Saturday and Sunday proved to be very profitable and made sure that the figures for the first two months of the challenge will be nice and healthy

Profit was = £1,723.36

Also had a small session this morning which I mad £46.56

Friday 9 October 2009

Two weeks wages in One Day

Good day today. 3 sessions

1 aussie, 1 uk and 1 us. Very good profit on each, mainly from a tip I got for a horse which won me £500. So I ended the day winning 923.47 profit from Betfair.

I also had a greyhound tip but it was tonight at Perry Barr and it won, could only get SP which was 7/4. Apparently it opened at 3/1 on track. My £100 stake won me £175 but this blog is about Betfair profits so I won't record that it. Just a bit of beer money :-)

Tough Times! Time to STOP ..... STOP CHASING

It's been almost two weeks since my last post and that was after I would post more frequently. May be it's because I don't have anyone following the blog yet that is causing be to lose discpline which was the whole point of having a blog.

Well alot has happened since my last post and it hasn't involved making any profit !!!! Lost about £4k towards the last day of last month. Fortunately it didn't end the month at a loss, but in my mind it did and I felt compelled to recover the lost money as soon as possible. So the inevitable happened and I lost some more.

From Day One until the end of September My profit was £1891.67

Anyway I'm not going to kid myself, I started losing (but not through chasing) after the initial big loss for a few days on the trot. Then I went through a few days of decent profit before losing again and probaly hitting an all time low of somewhere around -£5k for the challenge. Anyway, I have turned that around and the last couple of days have been very kind on all fronts and helped to build on my restored confidence, particular in my speciality which is US racining.

The sum total of all this I have made £3632.84 profit this month and therefore £5524.51 since the start.

I got myself out of jail but I'll only be a consistent winner if I learn from this and STOP CHASING

Just to show what a turn around it's been. At one point yesterday I had £500 in my bank after starting the day with £4k. I layed an odds on greyhound that lost and from there I managed to build my bank and end the day with over £7k and I followed this up by steadily making £2k profit after having a poor start. To be honest my staking yesterday was no different from normal. I just kept backing winners. In fact last night on the US I was only planning on a short session. The first bet won, 2nd lost and 3rd won, putting me nicely ahead and I thought I'd stop there but decided to continue until I had a loser. I got 7 winners on the trot at all sorts of good prices :-)

So all in all I've made just over £5.5k in 6 weeks but in the last 10 days or so I;ve actually lost probably about £400 and put in lots of effort for this privedledge.

It's funny I was reading a thread on the betfair forum about someone with a really gambling issue asking for help and unusually there were lots of helpful responses including this one

When gamblers lose lots of money it`s there naturalinstinct to try and win it back. However, it never works and one gets in deeper and deeper. One stops looking and form and logic and starts betting prices, e.g. I`m 2 grand down so I`ll put £200 on the 10/1 shot to get my money back.

Best advice that I can give you is that you must forget all about the money you`ve lost - ITS GONE. Take a break from gambling for a week or so and recharge your batteries and confidence. If you can`t do that, cut your stakes back and start betting things you fancy, not prices. Win in small doses. Slow and steady wins the races.

Seriously, you`ve got to forget what you`ve lost or else you`ll end up losing everything by chasing.

And this one as well

The belief that it is still somehow your money may be behind this chasing business.
You can never get lost money back.
You may win other money in the future, if you choose your selections with great care.
But cutter is right, the lost money is forever gone.
